Dissertation Wall of Fame
Ok, so I’ve been wanting to have a Dissertation Wall of Fame for a while now, and here it is! The Wall of Fame is for anyone who completes their dissertation and takes a few minutes to let me know.
The newest Wall of Fame member is Aldred Genade from Cape Town, South Africa. Aldred was a member of my dissertation coaching site, and he writes:

Dear Rachna
Thanks for your motivation and the regular tips. By God’s grace and your help I’ve managed to finish my paper. I just found out it was accepted, without changes.
Your greatest bit of advice was the backward planner.
Once I did that I had a clear blue print before me.
Next I rallied the support of my Saturday morning prayer group who each got a copy of my planner. I used a bright red paper to distinguish it from all the other papers people normally get. Several commented how that red paper helped them to remember me in prayer. As you know, every week someone would ask how is chapter x doing (they really held me accountable). Plus it was wonderful to do a report every week to people who were really interested.
I rallied the assistance of a retired lady who helped enter data, and do other typing tasks which I would check. On your recommendation I got the Endnote program (highly recommended) and this lady entered all my sources.
Another retired teacher helped with proofreading as the work progressed.
I gave a copy of the program to my supervisor and he was/is a real gem. He loved it and gave me prompt responses to every section of the work sent week by week.
I took your war cry-Get it Done and made several motivational banners from it. E.g. On green paper i typed GID in bold letters, really big font on an A4 page GID. On each wall of my office, places I would normally look I pasted these posters. GID-get it done! GID-am i getting it done-NOW!. GID-I will succeed co’s God and I can Do it;
Write what you know now!-This was a lifechanger. I suddenly found myself writing almost every day.
There you have it. Support, motivation and writing-these were the most helpful for me.
I will miss getting your tips (and just hearing from you) but I’ve recommended your site to others and will continue to do so. Even thought I registered in 2006 I idled for 9 months and really got going when I discovered your site. My planner shows that chp 1 commenced on 11 Dec 2006. I submitted my thesis yesterday 31 October 2007. Thank you so much Rachna.
Much Love,
Aldred Genade, Ph.D.
