Think in terms of the next two steps.
If you feel overwhelmed by the work you have to do, consider narrowing your focus to just the next two steps. Why two steps, you might ask? (Great question!)- just focusing on the next step can sometimes feel more anxiety-provoking- you have this constant sense that you might be missing the bigger picture. Focusing on the next TWO steps, then, can calm your worrying mind and give you a sense of process for your work. The other benefit of thinking in just two steps is that you won’t get overwhelmed by the hundreds (thousands?) of items that need to be dealt with before finishing. If you keep focused on just two steps, and then the next two, and then the next two (kind of like the Old Breck Shampoo commercial where everyone tells two friends)- you can keep yourself aware of the big picture and also focused in the now. Ask yourself, "what are my next two steps?". Then take them.
