Self Care Prevents Burnout.
Self care refers to any activity you engage in which leaves you feeling happier, relaxed, nurtured, and as if your life is pretty good. In a process like the dissertation, self care is a critical component to maintaining a healthy, balanced, and reasonably happy approach about the process. Self care is important for everyone, and especially important if you’re working full/part time in addition to working on the dissertation, if you have health issues, are in a significant relationship, have children, or have other personal issues or concerns. Every activity you engage in requires the use of some of your energy. Self care demonstrates a commitment to keeping a balance between what you give to others and what you give to yourself. If you are feeling burned out, overwhelmed, or otherwise unhappy, don’t accept this as "how it has to be". Always take some time out to get back in balance so you don’t burnout too soon.
