It’s never too late to get back to it!

Hi all- it’s been a while since I wrote… lots going on…but I’m thinking that you all maybe didn’t even really notice, given that it was summer vacation. I’ve been busy with a few things: one of which has been dealing with the death of my grandmother, which has been hard, though I’m sure she’s in a much better place. Leads to me think about writing more on grief and the dissertation… later), and my time/focus has also been taken up by some good things- like being a guest on NBC’s Today show. I was interviewed for a segment which ran on August 23… pretty cool. Anyway, I’m back now..and that brings me to the title of this post: it’s never too late to get back to it. As you’re gearing up for another academic year, you might be feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, or vague about how to get back to work on your dissertation…. and yet it’s time to do so. How to start? Start slowly. Aim to work 15-20 minutes every day this week, and that’s all. Make a list or outline of what remains to be done for this next chapter or section. Build in a structure linking rewards for outcomes (true progress, not just time spent). That should get you off to a great start.
